June 2015

Our Riot coaches decided not to teach over the summer, so a bunch of us decided to meet together in the park for what we are affectionately calling "fake Riot" :) Here we are on June 1st.

That afternoon I chaperoned yet ANOTHER field trip for Faith (and let her know that 4 per school year is a bit much). This one was to Centerville Megaplex to see "The Outsiders" which the kids had recently read. Faith loved the book and the movie. I read the book, at her request, the week before and have to say that neither were favorites of mine.

The 2nd was face end of year assembly and she performed with the Colorguard.

Unfortunately, I clicked the wrong button on my phone and what I thought was a video was only a still picture! It was the most awesome routine, too. They even had some teachers twirling flags at the beginning with them.

Since I didn't order school pictures, here's a screen grab from the online system :)

The traditional school year ended on June 4th and my friend Jenn hosted a neighborhood "welcome to summer" party. Christian had another month of school left, but I pulled him out early so he could celebrate anyway.

On the 6th my friend did the dirty – with their spouses. I thought about signing up, but was not thrilled about the price and Tony didn't want to go :(

I took this pic on the 7th because it reminded me of playing the square building game in church when I was young. It's gone high-tech now!

That afternoon, we stop by Joy's for Faith to look at some free clothing Joy got from her friend who works at a secondhand store.

We were also going to borrow their trailer to get a basketball hoop the Macrory's left behind for us when they moved to Portland, but figured out that we could take it apart and get it in the Jeep. Christian loves that he has a decent sized hoop now.

The evening of the 8th we went to lagoon and met up with Joy and her kiddies. We rode Rattlesnake Rapids and got drenched!
(Tony couldn't pass up this opportunity to photobomb the kids' picture!)

Once was enough for Tony and I, but the kids decided to go a few more times!

I got to hang with the tiniest cuties 💜 When Joy tells Evie that my name is Emily, she responds, "No, Faif-mom!"

The morning of the 11th I declared war on our garden weeds. There were far too many to pull, so the hoe was my weapon of choice. Christian helped a tiny bit with this edger.

And we won!

I saw this on Facebook and could totally relate! I don't REALLY want another baby, but part of me yearns for one. Not that it's even an option, unless we buy one :)

June 13th we went to Jurassic World in IMAX 3D and really loved it!

Later we grabbed the kids a Hawaiian ice.

On the 16th I took the kids to Cherry Hill. We got swim passes for Christmas.

There have been large groups of us for fake Riot. Here we are on the 19th.

June 21st was Fathers Day. I didn't remember to get a pic of Tony, but I did make him a fabulous breakfast that day! My dad made steak and it was awesome, as always!

I didn't get a picture of Larry, either, but instead I got this weird one 😜

On the 23rd, Christian rode his bike to school accompanied by Faith. Darcy Jewell and I walked, as well. When it was time for Christian to come home, Faith had already left for Park city with my mom and dad, so I rode Faith's bike to escort him. It was my first time on a bike in about 25 years, and though I was rusty, sure enough--I still could do it!

The reason they forgot to go to Park city earlier than Christian is that he had a field trip to the Treehouse Museum on the 24th and I had signed up to chaperone at the beginning of the school year. Here is Christian playing the king in a production of Puss in boots.

After that it was storytime and then we got to explore the museum for about an hour and a half.

We took the bus back to Kaysville and ate lunch at Barnes Park. Afterward the kids played red rover.

Right after the field trip, I checked Christian out of school and we drove up to Park city. The kids swam that night.

The next morning I went for a run, then walked with the kids and dad to 7-Eleven.

On the way back, per tradition, we stopped at the fire station for a tour.

I left for home after that to work a blue buddy shift. I worked again the next morning and then Tony and I drove up to pick up the kids.

I had seen the commercial for the illusionist show the weeks before and found the tickets to be way too expensive (starting at $70 each) but just about a week before the 26th there was a special on KSL deals for $24 tickets to the matinee!

We couldn't pass that up. We took the kids to the show at Capitol theater and it was excellent! There were a bunch of different magicians with different styles and it was very entertaining!

we picked up panda express for dinner and took it back to the condo.

On the morning of the 27th, Tony and I went for an early morning walk. Most of it was on the roads, but we finally found a trail up above the canyons resort.

We packed up, then rode the Cabriolet.

We went to the Olympic Park and were thinking about using our connect passes to do the adventure course that Joy's kids had done the day before.

We watched some people doing ski jumps into a pool.
But the kids kind of chickened out and it was getting hot, so instead of doing the course, Tony sold our tickets to it.

We used the money to go to dinner at the Tucanos!
